Boo Hoo!
You know, it really makes me angry when women use the "tear card" while playing their games. So many women, when placed in an unfavourable position, tear up in order to manipulate the situation. Let's face it, all women are more than capable of manipulation... in fact, it's in our blood.
Fortunately for the rest of the world, some women don't lower ourselves to this level of manipulation.
However, it seems that a certain US senator admits to having used tears to get her point across. In the story from the Guardian online, Hillary Clinton reveals turning point in race for White House as being the recent display of emotion (ie tears) on television that showed the rest of America that "the reason I do this is I love this country so profoundly". She also goes on to say "When the cameras turn off and the speeches are done, what have we actually done to improve people's lives."
To this I say Bull!
Hillary, what you did was use those tears to manipulate people. You, an apparently strong and intelligent woman used that perceived weakness to manipulate people. This make you no better than those supposedly frail & delicate woman that others are afraid to be honest with for sake of not hurting their feelings. You've set women back again by using that whole "weakness" thing to reinforce the stereotype!
Okay people, I know that many of you think that I'm some kind of radical feminist but that cannot be further from the truth. I am a humanist that thinks that everyone is equal and I treat them that way. I don't have a problem with women wearing short skirts and stilettos OR overalls. I don't have a problem with men who dress this way either. So, if it's alright for Hillary to cry, then it should be okay for Obama to and use that to show his commitment to the nation.
I just think that for her to associate the tears with her commitment to the nation is false. She cried because she knew she lost the vote previously and knew that if she cried, people would feel sorry for her. Come on Hillary, if you're going to cry, don't lie!
Late Addition: Don't you find it ironic that the woman who caused Hillary's tearful reaction actually voted for Obama. Read about it here!

Good point, Lola... I always thought Hilary Clinton was secretly a man, actually. But I guess her use of tears to manipulate the American public would indicate otherwise.
I suppose she won't be able to do this repeatedly until she's in office, will she?
Bill Clinton apologized several times for his love affair and every time his popularity actually raised. Finally he was more popular than before the affair with Monica - the most popular US president ever... Is it well known in North America, or only Hungarian college students learn this? I guess you know it better than me. Showing this kind of weakness and uncontrollable honesty (hehe) like Bill's and Hilary's has this result. But I guess you are both right, and Hilary cannot keep doing this many times.
Hmmm. I suppose, Matt, that would explain why Bill was fooling around with Monica.
Oh, and Viktor? Yes, his popularity went up but I don't know if it was for his apology. I think there were other factors in the works... Personally, I would have no faith in a leader that lies. I don't care if he was having an affair (I think the word "love" isn't really applicable in this case - it was out and out sexual activity) because that would be his business. However, for him to tell everyone that he "did not have sexual relations with that woman" was unforgivable. After all, oral sex is just as much sexual relations as banging someone.
Okay, now that I said that, I really agree that she won't be able to use that tactic again. After all, as Brian Adams (and all of the other Canadian artists that participated in the Northern Lights charity song) would say "Tears are not enough".
